My name is Jacob Robbie.
I grew up in South Florida, and I graduated from FIU with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
I have also received two certifications in Dry Needling (Cert DN).
I love soccer, hockey and reading -- and I'm falling more in love with the Triangle every day.
I have extensive work experience with patients experiencing:
-- Long-term chronic pain cases
-- Chronic back/neck pain from sedentary occupation
-- Patients recovering from past and/or ongoing trauma(s)
-- Patients with pain from unfinished/poor past rehab experiences
-- Pain from trying to return to a recreational sport (and maintain prior activity)
-- Pain from trying to return to a high level of performance in a sport (particularly relevant to competitive athletes)
-- Fall and injury prevention cases
-- Deconditioned patients
-- Post-surgery recovery
-- Vertigo
...and a LOT more. Each and every body is a new map!
I have a passion for helping others. I love assisting my patients in returning to their favorite activities, improving their athletic performance, or in simply improving their quality of life through pain reduction and individualized care. My goal is to always listen and meet the specific needs of each person who entrusts me with their care.
Training Background
Working as a young healthcare practitioner, I saw firsthand how patients can be treated in an "assembly line" manner - not listened to; hurried in and out of appointments on the dot; and, worst of all, leaving without the root causes of their pain truly treated. This factory-model approach to physiotherapy is only good for the company's bottom line, never for the patient's health.
I was already passionate about my work. But those experiences made me determined to do all that I can to improve the current state of physiotheraphy - and that begins with my own practice!
My promise is that my patients will always receive great treatment that is customized for their needs, not mine.
Outside of my career...
I am a big reader, a proud Florida sports fan, and definitely binge watch any show that captivates me.
My partner is a PhD candidate at Duke in the Pathology program with a specific focus on neurodegeneration.
(I do my best to answer questions about the intricacies of her thesis work.....but no promises there.)
